WRC leader Rovanpera fights back to win Croatia Rally

INTERNATIONAL: Kalle Rovanpera clinched victory in the Croatia Rally on Sunday 24th April as the Finn overturned Ott Tanak’s late lead.

Rovanpera had led from the start but Hyundai’s Tanak took a narrow 1.4-second lead in the penultimate speed test on his softer Pirelli tyres.

Rovanpera's Toyota GR Yaris had the edge in the last Wolf Power Stage as he clawed back the deficit before powering home to victory, 4.3 seconds ahead of Tanak.

Rovanpera, who also won the previous rally in Sweden, extended his overall championship lead to 29 points over Thierry Neuville of Hyundai, who finished the Croatian leg third after he lost time crashing into a ditch.

Next up is the Portuguese Rally from May 19-22, the fourth stop on the 2022 World Rally Championship calendar.
